Article: The green functions of train movement control

We offer you a "green interface" with the green functions of train movement control.

Services for railway undertakings (RUs)

With the green functions of train movement control, DB Netz AG has developed a nationwide
solution for you that supports an energy-saving driving style on your trains.

We offer two functions:

Green function "running to schedule"

The driving recommendation "running to schedule" helps you to prevent you from arriving ahead of your schedule by keeping the train to the schedule through a reduced speed or coasting to a stop. As a result of this, energy consumption is not higher than necessary.

Green function "follow train"

The driving recommendation "follow train" helps you to save energy by avoiding braking or unnecessary stops when pursuing trains prevent, if no further intervention by dispatchers is possible.
The driving recommendations "running to schedule" and "follow train" are calculated and provided on the data base from the DB Netz AG's operations centre control system (timetable data, current data, forecast data). A total consideration of the current operating situation ensures that no additional delays occur for either the receiving train or other trains thanks to the green functions.
The driving recommendations are available for you via an open interface. According to your needs, the data for driving recfommandations can be received either via GSM-P directly to registered and receiving terminals in the traction unit, or via an IP connection to a central server operated by you for subsequent distribution to the terminals in your traction units.
Processing and visualisation of the driving recommendation content on the user interfaces of the train drivers' terminals or tablets is up to you.
The product is available to you from July 2018. The price is 0,00315 Euro per track kilometre.
